Nicole Sanderson Epic Fantasy Author

Stories were meant to do more than entertain—they were meant to transform.

Long before books, our ancestors gathered around fires to share tales that taught as much as they thrilled. I write to honor that ancient tradition: epic fantasy that doesn’t just battle external darkness, but guides readers through their own.

I discovered this truth the way most writers do—by needing stories to navigate my own darkness. Books were my guides when I had none. Now I write the stories I needed then: unflinching about the pain, uncompromising about the possibility of healing.

My debut series, Throne of Wyrden, isn’t about just heroes fighting the evil in their world. It’s about characters navigating the messy, hard work of healing—confronting trauma, their own darkness, rebuilding self-worth, learning to forgive (themselves and others), and discovering that family isn’t always blood. Each character carries their own wounds, their own truth, their own path to transformation.

Because that’s what fantasy should do: give voice to the struggles we all face, guide, give hope, all wrapped in magic and starlight.

By day, I own my own financial practice, helping people plan for their futures. By night (and every stolen afternoon), I’m worldbuilding across three curved screens in my home office, crafting the six-book saga I’ve been building for the past six years. I’ve been a writer since I could hold a pen—making books as a kid, scribbling poetry, dreaming of dragons and heroes.

I’m drawn to everything: science, literature, art, music, culture, the way stories shape us. Most people don’t expect the panoply, but that’s what makes the work interesting.

Throne of Wyrden: Ashes & Starlight is currently querying agents. I’m building toward traditional publication and seeking representation for a series that refuses to shy away from the hard parts of becoming whole.
